Twist the throttle on a Bengaluru morning signal and the Roadster does something no 150cc petrol bike in this price range can — it launches to 40 kmph in a claimed 2 seconds flat, with zero drama and zero gear-hunting. The mid-mounted 13kW motor delivers that torque right at zero rpm, which means filtering through Andheri or Silk Board traffic feels almost unfair. The city speed ceiling is a genuinely usable 95 kmph in Normal mode — enough for most urban arterials and outer ring roads without dipping into Sport or Hyper.

Where the plot thickens is on the highway. Top speed on the 4.5kWh variant is claimed at 126 kmph, but sustaining 100+ kmph for more than a few minutes chews range aggressively. There's noticeable vibration through the footpegs at lower speeds, which is unexpected from an electric motor — suggesting the Gen 3 platform still has some NVH refinement gaps.

The 4.5kWh pack offers a claimed 190km range. Real-world? Expect 130–145km in mixed city riding with regen on, closer to 110km if you're regularly using Sport mode in summer heat. That's still a respectable daily range for most commuters doing under 50km a day — no range anxiety on most days. The Revolt RV400, at a similar ₹1.35 lakh (on-road), gives you a claimed 150km but a far smaller community and fewer riding modes. At ₹0.23/km running cost, the Roadster is operating at roughly one-seventh the cost of a 150cc petrol bike.

The ergonomics tell you this is a street-fighter silhouette — a slight forward lean, mid-set footpegs, and a narrow seat that works well at 5'6" to 5'10". Seat height is suitable for both smaller and taller riders, and for a solo commuter doing 30km daily, the posture holds without fatigue. Pillion comfort is a different conversation — the rear perch is narrow and firm, and anyone riding double for more than 20 minutes on a potholed road will know it.

Suspension is where this bike earns its harshest criticism. The telescopic fork and twin rear shocks ride adequately on small bumps, but bigger bumps at higher speeds produce clunking noises from the front end, and the suspension can bottom out quite abruptly. Mumbai monsoon roads — waterlogged craters, mid-corner potholes, speed breakers taken at 40kmph — expose this tuning very quickly. The suspension is tuned on the sportier, stiffer side, which means highway stability is decent, but the trade-off is a jarring city ride.

Steering at low speeds feels heavy and sluggish, requiring effort when changing direction — not what you want when navigating a crowded parking lot or a U-turn in an Old Delhi lane. The Tork Kratos R at ₹1.42 lakh (on-road) has a meaningfully better-sorted chassis and more confidence-inspiring low-speed maneuverability. Lane-switching fatigue at 80 kmph is acceptable for a 20-minute run but builds noticeably over an hour-long ride.

This is where the Roadster earns back ground. The 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen is a full-feature unit offering turn-by-turn navigation, proximity unlock, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, a party mode (yes, really), a DIY mode, digital key unlock, and four riding modes — Hyper, Sports, Normal, and Eco. At ₹1.19 lakh, no ICE motorcycle and no rival EV can match this feature stack. The Revolt RV400 has a comparatively spartan setup; even Bajaj's ₹1.22 lakh Pulsar N160 doesn't offer navigation or proximity unlock,

ABS is present, and the braking setup gets front and rear disc brakes. But the front brake lacks strong lever feedback, the rear pedal has excessive travel, and hard braking from speed doesn't inspire confidence — stopping distance from 60 kmph was longer than most electric scooters tested. This is a genuine safety concern that technology cannot paper over.

There's also a lack of clear "ready to ride" indication — critical on a silent electric motorcycle. No engine growl means no audio cue, and the small LED indicator doesn't cut it in bright sunlight. Software and connectivity are the strengths; hardware execution of braking and readiness feedback is a clear gap. The MoveOS ecosystem is genuinely impressive for over-the-air updates, but some early buyers have reported system issues requiring service visits within days of delivery.

Stand the Roadster next to a Bajaj Pulsar or an Apache and there's no question — this looks like a machine from a different decade. The slim, minimalistic yet muscular stance emphasizes aerodynamics, and the aggressive alloy wheel pattern gives it a genuinely menacing street presence. The all-LED lighting is sharp, the colour execution is clean, and the mid-motor layout gives the frame a visual tightness that's hard to achieve on ICE bikes.

Up close, however, the story falters. Inconsistent build quality is apparent throughout — uneven panel gaps in several areas, with the largest sitting under the seat, and some parts using basic-looking bolts that feel out of place on a modern electric motorcycle. This is not a ₹50,000 scooter issue — it's a problem at ₹1.19 lakh where buyers are comparing panel fit with the Honda CB300R (₹2.99 lakh) and dreaming it holds up. It doesn't.

The colour range is decent — clean blacks, aggressive reds — but personalisation beyond colour is limited. The target buyer persona is clear: a 22–32 year old tech-leaning urban rider who wants to stand out in a sea of Apaches, values a spec sheet over build feel, and is emotionally early-adopting. The design language reads as timeless minimalism in intent, but finish quality makes it feel more prototype than production-ready.
