The Ola Roadster X is India's first mass-market electric motorcycle, launched on 5 February 2025. It is the entry-level model in Ola Electric's Roadster lineup — positioned below the Roadster and flagship Roadster Pro. Built on Ola's Gen 3 platform, the Roadster X delivers a compelling mix of futuristic design, smart technology, and accessible pricing that starts at just ₹79,999 (ex-showroom). With deliveries beginning from May 2025 across major cities, the Roadster X is purpose-built for urban daily commuters and first-time EV motorcycle buyers who want to switch from petrol without breaking the bank. The Ola Roadster X sports a minimalist, futuristic street-bike silhouette with sharp LED lighting all around. The motorcycle sits on a double-cradle steel frame with 17-inch alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. At just 123.4 kg kerb weight and a 777 mm seat height (lower than the segment average), it is accessible for a wide range of riders, including shorter and first-time riders. Five colour options are available: Anthracite, Ceramic White, Industrial Silver, Stellar Blue, and Pine Green.

Real owner opinions, filtered by how you actually ride
The Ola Roadster X is a capable daily commuter that covers city distances with ease and the running economics are compelling versus a petrol motorcycle. The connected app and navigation work well enough for everyday use. Storage is the notable weakness -- as a motorcycle it has almost none, which means carrying a bag is mandatory. For commuters who do not mind that trade-off and want an electric motorcycle over a scooter, the Roadster X makes a solid case.
The Roadster X delivers a genuinely enjoyable riding experience for enthusiasts -- the acceleration in sport mode is strong, the top speed ceiling is respectable, and the riding character has a crispness that petrol bikes in this segment often lack. OTA updates from Ola have been inconsistent in quality but the underlying hardware has real potential. The biggest gap is software polish and long-term reliability, which remains to be proven at scale for a motorcycle newcomer.
The Roadster X is fundamentally not designed for family use and the scores reflect that honestly. There is virtually no storage for daily family errands, pillion comfort is adequate at best on city roads, and the aggressive power delivery requires a careful hand with passengers aboard. The connected safety features and geofencing work reliably, which is a genuine plus. Families with practical daily needs should look at Ola's scooter lineup instead -- the Roadster X is a motorcycle built for the rider, not for passengers.
Among electric two-wheelers the Roadster X is one of the better long-distance options -- real-world highway range is respectable, the riding position suits extended stints, and stability at 90-100 kmph is confidence-inspiring. The Ola hypercharger network outside metros is the familiar weak link. For riders doing regular city-to-city runs the Roadster X is a more convincing choice than most electric scooters, provided you plan charging stops carefully and stay within corridors Ola has begun to develop.
I attempted a Delhi-Jaipur run on the Roadster X with one planned charging stop and it worked out better than anticipated. Real-world range at 85 kmph was around 135 km, which with one 40-minute fast charge at an Ola hypercharger in Shahjahanpur got me to Jaipur comfortably. Highway stability at 95-100 kmph is notably good -- the motorcycle feels planted and the riding position does not tire you out over two hours the way some sport bikes do. Build quality and performance are solid. The weak point is the Ola hypercharger network outside Delhi -- the corridor to Jaipur has two working points which is just barely enough. When the network grows this becomes a very compelling highway machine.
I switched from a Royal Enfield Meteor to the Ola Roadster X for my daily 30 km Bengaluru commute and the experience has been transformative in terms of running costs and traffic ease. Range in eco mode comfortably does three days of my commute on one charge and the connected app keeps me updated on battery status throughout the day. The riding position is upright enough for stop-start traffic without fatigue. Performance is more than adequate for the city -- in sport mode it pulls away from traffic lights decisively. The only concession I make is carrying a backpack since there is no storage, but I did that on the Enfield too. A genuinely worthy daily commuter.
I bought the Roadster X thinking it would serve as a versatile family bike for school runs and weekend grocery trips. It does neither well. There is nowhere to put anything -- no storage, no provision for a topbox mount on the base variant, and the pillion seat is narrow enough that my teenage daughter refuses to ride more than 15 minutes on it. The power delivery in normal mode lurches in slow traffic, which is unnerving with a passenger. Build quality is acceptable and the geofencing feature works well, but these do not offset the fundamental impracticality. If I had spent 20 minutes researching I would have bought a scooter. The Roadster X is a solo rider's machine sold without that being made clear enough.
I picked up the Roadster X with measured expectations -- Ola's scooter software history made me cautious. Three months in I am genuinely impressed. Sport mode acceleration is strong enough to surprise regular motorcycle riders and the torque delivery is instantaneous in a way that petrol bikes simply cannot replicate. The riding character is sharp and involving -- it steers quickly and the chassis feels well sorted for a first-generation electric motorcycle. Build quality on my unit is better than the early Ola scooters. The app has crashed twice but the ride itself has been flawless. Performance is the real story here and for an enthusiast willing to overlook software immaturity, the Roadster X delivers.
Buy this if you're a city commuter in a metro or Tier-1 town who travels under 100 km a day, has access to home charging, wants the biggest feature list for the money, and is willing to accept that OLA's after-sales network is still catching up to the ambition of the product.
