Real owner opinions, filtered by how you actually ride
The Ather 450 Apex is effortless as a daily commuter — range in eco mode is among the highest in its class, the connected dashboard is flawless, and the ride quality makes city traffic feel manageable rather than grinding. Boot space is the one compromise shared with all Ather scooters. For riders who want the absolute best daily experience and are willing to pay for it, the Apex delivers on every front.
The 450 Apex is the definitive enthusiast electric scooter in India. Warp+ mode delivers acceleration that genuinely surprises experienced riders, and the top speed ceiling gives real confidence on open roads. The chassis is tuned for a more involving ride than the standard 450x and it shows in every corner. OTA updates keep the experience evolving. This is what Ather built when they stopped compromising for the mass market.
As a family scooter the Apex scores highly on safety, build quality, and connected features, but its performance-focused character means the default ride is more aggressive than some family riders prefer. The suspension is tuned stiffer for handling and pillion comfort on broken roads suffers slightly. Boot space remains limited to one helmet. Families prioritising safety hardware and geofencing will find it excellent; those wanting a relaxed family tourer may prefer the standard 450x.
The Apex is the most capable Ather for long-distance use — the top speed ceiling, highway stability, and fast-charge speed are all meaningfully better than lower variants. Real-world highway range of 85-95 km at 80 kmph makes intercity trips viable with one planned stop near a Grid point. The charging infrastructure gap outside major metros remains the limiting factor it is across all Ather models. For riders in metros doing regular extended runs, the Apex is genuinely promising.
I have owned a 450x for two years and recently upgraded to the Apex. The difference is immediately felt rather than just seen on a spec sheet. Range in eco mode on my 28 km daily commute is almost laughably generous -- I charge twice a week at most. The dashboard software feels snappier, the ride quality is more composed over Bengaluru's patchy roads, and the Warp+ mode is something I dip into on weekend rides purely for the smile it produces. Build quality and finish are a clear step up from the already-good 450x. For a daily commuter who also enjoys riding for its own sake, the Apex is the one to have.
The 450 Apex in Warp+ mode is the most visceral electric scooter experience available in India and it is not close. The acceleration off the line is savage in the best possible way -- 0-60 in well under four seconds with a pull that keeps building. Top speed is genuinely over 120 kmph and it feels stable getting there, which the 450x did not always manage. The chassis tuning is noticeably sharper, the brakes are more progressive, and the overall feel is of a scooter that was built to be ridden hard rather than just ridden. OTA updates from Ather consistently add meaningful performance features. Expensive, but every rupee is justified for an enthusiast.
My husband and I use the Apex for family city errands and school runs, and it is mostly excellent. Build quality is the best we have seen on any two-wheeler at this price, safety features are comprehensive, and the geofencing works reliably. Our reservations are specific: the suspension is tuned stiff for performance and our children find the pillion ride noticeably firmer than our old Honda. The default Warp+ responsiveness also means the throttle needs a gentler hand with a child aboard. Switching to Eco mode softens both issues considerably. The boot fits one helmet comfortably. An exceptional scooter that asks you to adapt to it slightly rather than the other way around.
I do a Hyderabad city loop most weekdays and a 120-150 km highway run every other weekend. The Apex handles both better than any other electric scooter I have tested. Highway range at 80 kmph is around 88-92 km -- enough for my usual Hyderabad-Nagarjuna Sagar leg with one Grid stop at a reliable point I have mapped out. The top speed comfort at 100 kmph is genuinely impressive -- stable, composed, no nervous handling. Build quality and charging speed at Ather Grid are both excellent. The charging network outside Hyderabad is the only limitation I regularly feel. If Ather expands the Grid along key NH corridors over the next year, the Apex becomes a near-perfect mixed-use machine.
