The Ather 450s is purpose-built for daily city commuting and it shows. Range holds up well in eco mode and the connected dashboard is among the best in class at this price. Boot space is a touch smaller than some rivals but adequate for daily essentials. The running economics make a compelling case for switching from petrol, and the Ather Grid fast-charge network adds a useful safety net for longer days.
The 450s delivers enough acceleration to satisfy mild enthusiasts and Ather's OTA update record is genuinely strong — the software here is polished, not just promised. But the top speed ceiling at 90 kmph and the absence of a true high-performance mode keep it from being a proper enthusiast machine. If you want the full Ather performance experience, the 450x is the better target. The 450s is capable and refined, just not thrilling.
For family use the Ather 450s scores well on the things that matter most — smooth throttle, reliable brakes, solid build, and useful connected safety features. The pillion seat and suspension are more comfortable than most electric scooters in this class. Boot space is the one compromise, fitting one full-face helmet comfortably but not two. Families doing city runs under 40 km a day will find this an excellent, trustworthy daily choice.
The Ather 450s was designed for cities, not highways, and it shows when pushed beyond its natural habitat. Highway range at 75-80 kmph drops to 70-80 km, and the Ather Grid thins out dramatically outside major metros. The scooter feels stable enough at 80 kmph but wind exposure and ergonomics are not suited to two-hour stretches. For occasional intercity runs with careful planning it can work, but as a regular touring tool it falls well short.
Our family switched from a petrol scooter to the Ather 450s four months ago and we could not be happier. The smooth, progressive power delivery is perfect when my kids ride pillion — there is no sudden surge that makes passengers nervous. Suspension handles Coimbatore's road surfaces well and the pillion seat is comfortable for longer city trips. Build quality feels premium and the safety features give me confidence. The geofencing alert is something I actively use. Charging overnight at home keeps it topped up for the whole week across all our family errands. The running cost savings have been remarkable. Genuinely the best two-wheeler purchase we have made as a family.
The Ather 450s is the most complete electric scooter I have ridden at this price point. The touchscreen dashboard is fast and intuitive, OTA updates arrive regularly and add real value, and the app ecosystem is mature compared to newer entrants. Performance in sport mode is genuinely enjoyable on Mumbai's faster arterials and the ride character has a planted, confident quality that cheaper EVs lack. Comfort over broken roads is better than expected. The charging infrastructure with Ather Grid makes range anxiety manageable. Build quality is tight — no rattles, no panel gaps. If you want an enthusiast EV scooter without spending 450x money, this is the one to beat right now.
The Ather 450s handles my daily commute well and the connected features are genuinely impressive for the price. Range in eco mode is honest and the ride quality is smooth through Chennai traffic. My frustration is with the charging infrastructure — the Ather Grid network in my part of the city is sparse and two of the three nearby points were non-functional on separate occasions. Home charging works but takes longer than I would like on a busy week. Build quality is solid and the app is polished. If Ather sorts the charging network reliability, this would be a near-perfect commuter. For now, it requires more planning than I expected.
I came to the Ather 450s from a 150cc petrol scooter and the acceleration off the line genuinely surprised me. Sport mode gives a satisfying punch that makes city riding fun rather than just functional. The OTA updates have added features I did not pay for at purchase, which speaks well of Ather's approach to software. Performance in sport mode is spirited enough for daily enthusiasm even if it does not match the 450x's outright pace. Charging at home overnight is seamless and the Ather Grid app integration makes finding charge points simple. Build quality is excellent for the price. A rewarding scooter for someone who wants more than bland point-to-point transport.
