  Premium city scooter that shows its limits quickly on open roads

  The Chetak is the most refined electric scooter I have ridden for pure city use -- build quality, ride comfort, and daily reliability are all excellent. My neutral rating comes from my specific use case: I regularly ride the Nagpur-Wardha stretch, around 75 km each way, and the Chetak makes this more stressful than it should be. Range at 65 kmph drops to around 78 km which is tight with no charging option mid-route. The top speed feels borderline for the speed of traffic on that road. I make it work by riding conservatively and charging fully before each trip. The scooter itself does not let me down -- the use case is simply at the edge of its design envelope. Know your routes before buying.

  Solid, smooth and sensible -- exactly what our family needed

  My wife and I share the Chetak for school runs, grocery trips, and weekend errands. In ten months it has required zero unplanned maintenance, which is the most important metric for a family vehicle. Ride comfort for pillion passengers is the best among the electric scooters we evaluated -- the suspension tuning is clearly set for loaded riding rather than solo sport. Power delivery is smooth and never alarming with a child aboard. The metal body has resisted the daily wear of family use impressively -- no scratches, no rattles. Charging overnight at home keeps it ready every morning. Boot space is adequate for daily needs. A dependable, premium family scooter that earns its price without fanfare.

  Handles city-plus runs well if you stay realistic

  I use the Chetak for Delhi commuting and occasional runs to Gurgaon and Noida, roughly 40-50 km each way, and it handles this usage profile comfortably. Range in eco mode is a genuine 90-95 km in Delhi winter conditions, which covers the outer-ring loop I do most weekends with charge to spare. Ride comfort on NH stretches at 60-65 kmph is smooth and the build quality means rough patches do not transmit harshly. I do not attempt expressways -- the top speed is not suited to that. For city-plus riders who stay within a realistic 70-80 km radius and avoid high-speed roads, the Chetak is an excellent, dependable choice that rewards the discipline of knowing your route.

  Beautiful scooter that refuses to be ridden with any urgency

  I bought the Chetak drawn in by the design and Bajaj's brand reliability. The design remains gorgeous and the build quality is genuinely the best I have seen on any electric scooter. But the riding experience is a deep disappointment for anyone who enjoys riding rather than just travelling. The top speed of 63 kmph means any attempt to ride briskly on Mumbai's arterials is immediately frustrating -- cars pull away from you on every green light. There is no sport mode that meaningfully changes the character. The app offers nothing for an enthusiast. The Chetak is a premium commuter product that has been designed for a specific type of buyer who is not me. I respect what it is; I should not have bought it.
